About 75% of Android Apps are prepared to work on Nokia X smartphones without any modifications in the codes. Nokia has made the Nokia X SDK available for download on its official page for the developers, it turns out that 75% of the average applications do not need any tweaking or modification to be able to run on theNokia X smartphones. The company has 3 smartphones in the X series which are the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. These devices would require some modifications to the apps that depend on Google services forpush notifications and other services.
The rest 25% won’t work due to their dependency on Google for push notifications, maps and in-app purchases. The apps that rely solely on Google for the above mentioned process would require modifications to switch them to Nokia’s services in-order to run them on Nokia devices, which would probably take about 8 hours for developers to do so.
In order to do such testing and tweaking, Nokia has provided the developers with app testing facility. The app testing facility would allow developers to upload and test if a particular application would work with Nokia x series of phones or not. These applications would require switching to Nokia Here Maps and Nokia Notifications in order to work on Nokia X devices.
Nokia has worked real hard to make the device look much like Windows Phone and have an app base of Android. We are looking forward to have the device here and review it ASAP. Stay tuned the review is coming soon.
