Report: Insider claims Apple iPhone 6 will feature 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture
It certainly seems that Sunday is the day for Apple iPhone 6 leaks, following our earlier story about a photograph that allegedly reveals the front panel for the upcoming model. Now comes word from someone claiming to be an Apple insider, that Apple plans on keeping an 8MP rear camera on the back of the next iPhone. This shouldn't be terribly shocking, considering that a report out of China said the same thing back in January.
And while today's report also comes from China (via a Weibo) account, we also have some more information regarding the iPhone 6's rear snapper. First of all, the camera on the new model will supposedly feature a larger sensor of 1/2.6" as opposed to the 1/3" on the Apple iPhone 5s. The aperture size of f/2.0 compares to the f/2.2 and the f/2.4 aperture sizes on the Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5 respectively. This will allow the next iPhone to take better pictures under low-light conditions. And the rear snapper on the new iPhone will reportedly include OIS and a 6p sapphire lens. The source says that the CMOS sensor will be manufactured by Sony with the rest of the components made by LG and Sharp.
Again, we must take this information with a grain of salt. But let's assume for a second that this information is true. Would this be enough of an upgrade over the rear camera on the iPhone 5s to satisfy potential buyers of the phone?
